raw materials used in bauxite

Bauxite (raw) EKC.AG

The aluminium ore bauxite, which consists of various minerals, iron oxides, titanium oxide and clay minerals, is mainly found in the tropics, subtropics and near the equator due to climatic conditions. With its high aluminium content, it is the only ore used for commercial aluminium production. This makes the raw material an indispensable mineral in metallurgy, but also in the refractory industry.

Bauxite: The principal ore of aluminum. - Geology

It forms when laterite soils are severely leached of silica and other soluble materials in a wet tropical or subtropical climate. Bauxite is the primary ore of aluminum. Almost all of the aluminum that has ever been produced has been extracted from bauxite. The United States has a few small bauxite deposits but at least 99% of the bauxite used in the United States is imported. The United ...

this reason, refractory materials based on andalusite, either raw or calcined, exhibit porosity significantly lower than bauxite or chamotte. When applied in castables, this specific behavior of andalusite results in an improved corrosion resistance as well as a lower water demand. The process and the kinetic of mullitisation have been studied by several authors and is fully described in ...

How aluminum is made - material, manufacture, making,

Raw Materials Aluminum compounds occur in all types of clay, but the ore that is most useful for producing pure aluminum is bauxite. Bauxite consists of 45-60% aluminum oxide, along with various impurities such as sand, iron, and other metals. Although some bauxite deposits are hard rock, most consist of relatively soft dirt that is easily dug from open-pit mines. Australia produces more than ...
